Some elements of an
individual credit report may include:
Identification
information reported by organizations that have done business with you.
Payment history on revolving and installment accounts
supplied by creditors with whom you have credit. This includes both open
accounts and accounts that have already been closed.
The length of time information remains on file is:
On accounts not charged to profit and loss or
placed for collection - 10 years from the date of last activity.
On accounts charged to profit and loss or placed
for collection after January 1, 1998 - 7 years from the beginning of the
delinquency that lead to the charge-off or placement for collection.
On accounts charged to profit and loss or placed
for collection prior to January 1, 1998 - 7 years from date of last activity.
Judgments - 7 years from the date filed.
Paid Tax Liens - 7 years from paid/released date,
unpaid tax liens report indefinitely.
Chapter 7, 11 and Non-discharged Chapter 13
Bankruptcies - 10 years from the date filed. Discharged Chapter 13
Bankruptcies - 7 years from the date filed.
